Pain Bakery

Painfully Good

A personal conceptual branding project for a Vietnamese–French bakery inspired by my curiosity about Vietnamese culture, history, and the lasting influence of the French colonial period on Vietnamese cuisine and language.

For this concept, I developed the brand name Pain Bakery alongside the tagline, “Painfully Good,” creating a double meaning through the French word pain (bread). Rather than focusing on a traditional logo system, the project emphasized typography, illustration, and visual atmosphere to communicate the bakery’s personality.

The design direction is toward a sense of tension and curiosity through typography, composition, and raw illustrations, aiming to create a brand experience that feels different and rooted in layered history. This project allowed me to explore branding as both visual communication and storytelling.
